ARTEPOVERA20/COVID19
textile, acrylic paint, wax, mixed media, 83x63cm
2020
To create this work, I was inspired by The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch. Just as art critics don't know exactly what The Garden of Earthly Delights is about, I still don't know what theme ARTEPOVERA20 / COVID19 refers to.

The creation process was entirely intuitive, based on the visual expression of Bosch's triptych. Impressions from Bosch's work overlapped with my experiences in 2019-2020, when
ARTEPOVERA20 / COVID19 was created.

If you look at the ARTEPOVERA20 / COVID19, you can see faces, snakes, orgies, trees, earth, and even non-figurative elements. The fact is that you see the transformation: of life, of economics, of politics, of art. That's why I refer to "arte povera" art direction: in 2020, I felt that the pandemic would change the way art makes money.

I'm still feeling the changes and I have to admit: these changes are not good at all.
